ITTIC was one of seven locations to receive a "Train the Trainer" grant on Trauma-Informed Care and the Criminal Justice System. In addition to funding, SAMHSA provides materials and support for ITTIC, which are used to train organizations in the community. SAMHSA offers an array of free material to assist individuals and organizations as they engage in trauma-informed care.
ITTIC is pleased to collaborate with Hilbert College's Institute of Law and Justice and Martin Floss, PhD, on the implementation of a How Being Trauma-Informed Improves Criminal Justice System Responses training. Together we have created a core group of local SAMHSA-trained trainers who can now train others on becoming trauma-informed within the criminal justice system. The trainings are co-facilitated by professionals in the criminal justice and human services fields.
Who: Law enforcement, community corrections (probation, parole and pre-trial services officers), court personnel and human service providers interacting with criminal justice system who are looking to be trauma-informed in their work
