College Preparatory Classes - College Now

 

College Now at Queensborough Community College also offers college preparatory courses and workshops to help you develop the skills you need to further your education.

 

We offer:

The College Focus program is a pre-college program that remediates high school seniors in English Language Arts or Mathematics prior to entering college. College Focus is designed to help students enter college remediation free.

College Focus English (60 hours, noncredit) CFELA_10

Eligibility: High school senior (juniors are eligible in the spring) with ELA Regents scores between 65 and 74.

Review and instruction in reading and writing to help students improve these skills to a college level. Students will take the CUNY Reading and Writing Assessments at the end of the course. Students who score at least a 70 on the reading and a 56 on the writing will enter college remediation free. Students will also be eligible to take credit course in the spring of junior year.

College Focus Math (60 hours, noncredit) CFMAT_10

Eligibility: High school senior (juniors are eligible in the spring) with Math Regents scores between 65 and 79 or students (or not higher than 70 on the Common Core) who are not on track to complete the three course sequence of Algebra, Geometry and Trigonometry.

Review and instruction in Algebra in preparation for the CUNY math placement exam. Students will take the CUNY Math placement exam at the course. Successful students on the CUNY placement will be able to take MA 119 College Algebra.

CN 7- College Now Preparatory Math –

Eligibility: High school juniors who are in need of additional coursework in mathematics in preparation for the SAT or to retake a math Regents.

Course is designed to assist students in taking the algebra math Regents, SAT math and math placement examinations. Instructor may use one of the SAT review books or Regents review in order for students to practice mathematical formulas that may be used in exams meant to apply to college admissions processes. The course is 30 hours for two hours a week per semester.

CN 8- College and Career Readiness-

Eligibility: High school juniors and seniors who are seeking assistance with the college admissions processes and the connection between careers and education.

This course was designed to help students to understand college majors, admission processes and financial aid. The course also discusses various careers and the educational requirements to enter some of the major fields that students may be interested in working in.

The KHC uses the lessons of the Holocaust to educate current and future generations about the ramifications of unbridled prejudice, racism and stereotyping.

QPAC is an invaluable entertainment company in this region with a growing national reputation. The arts at QPAC continues to play a vital role in transforming lives and building stronger communities.

The QCC Art Gallery of the City University of New York is a vital educational and cultural resource for Queensborough Community College, the Borough of Queens and the surrounding communities.
